get data from damaged phone

A friend has got a V980.Now the display part is broken away. It is still possible to switch thephone on, but of course you won’t see any messages.I switched the phone on and connected it via USB cable to the PC, andhoped that I can copy the phone book with the phone tools to the PC.But the phone is not detected by the phone tools.Any idea…
